“I Was Fed Up of Asking: How Long will this Situation Continue?”
Meet Gentian Sejrani, one of the human rights defenders participating in Defenders´ Days 2015. He is the Founder of the Youth Roma and Egyptian Movement (YREM) based in Elbasan, Albania.
Being part of the Egyptian community, Gentian has first-hand experience of discrimination and marginalization in his home country.
“I stepped up working for both communities to fight inequality and discrimination. I was fed up of asking: How long will this situation continue?”
YREM has been instrumental in promoting Roma and Egyptian Rights and seeking protection from discrimination. The organisation has been at the forefront of including and demanding accountability and transparency from state authorities in areas such as housing, economic rights, discrimination and the right to education.Categories: News.
